The Harpy’s body momentarily unraveled into a cluster of tentacles. The blade meant for one of it many hearts slid right through, doing minimal damage. Without losing momentum, the creature tore its enemy in half.

Now it turned its attention to the city. To the fleeing vermin that dared challenge it. It saw food - and hosts for its Father. Tonight it would feast.

A giant figure emerged from behind the Temple of Zeus and stood in its path. The Harpy recognized its natural enemy, one it learned to dispatch with ruthless efficiency. It outstretched its wings. The gust of wind threw the swarming refugees to the ground.

The titan charged,  swinging its megalithic hammer. The Harpy took the blow, its skull cracked like an egg, flooding the streets with dark cranial fluid. An acceptable setback. The secondary brain instantly took over.

To deal the blow, the titan had to expose itself. Predictable. In the exact moment the hammer struck, the Harpy slashed at the tender flesh. Fodder...

No. Something was different. The titan’s body hardened to the claws, sprouting a tendril-like exoskeleton. A blade - unsheathed from the head of the hammer! - cut through the Harpy’s arm, severing it at the elbow.

The Primordial backed away. It’s enemy has evolved too.
